All of this was thought about and noted on Friday 12,2013 at 11:22 AM after Reading Home >Poems> Poets>Man from the Poetry Foundation

After reading lots of old poetry and many notes about each poet and poem, my internal thoughts contemplate the ideas of how much that artistic form is linked together...kinda just like as painting is connected to the anonymous artists who decorated cave walls.  It appears that expressions of life within the creative poetic form have their many longings and other feelings that were also transformed into  songs. This has happened in the past and is happening now. Universal themes repeat. I'm awoken to the fact that a lot of what we do is impermanent (because of poetry). I like how creatively poetry seems to remind us all about the childish masquerades of death and taxes. After reading these old poems and the many notes about them I'm also reminded how much I  "hear"  my own voice within me awhile reading these things. My inner minds ear isn't really transformed until poetry is recorded in our "more modern eras". These thoughts also bring me closer to the conclusion of the creative power within words. Songs ,paintings, and many other artforms if you let them into your being can show you that giving credit to the originator will also just melt away. Many times the words will last longer than the person who created its name. Maybe I'm starting to think that it should. The challenges of Love, death, governments food, clothing, transportation, entertainment, housing, nationality etc. are as topical today as they were centuries ago. These very old poets and poems also keep reminding me of my ideas of and about being contemporary. The Last Poets, Gil Scott Heron, William S. Burroughs, Sid Yiddish, Thax Douglas, Anthony Shafer, Dave Gecic, and Iceberg Slim have been more than helpful to me in trying to make sense of survival within our lives. Writing has helped. I am very aware of the direct lines between what is happening now, what has been recently done, as well as all that has been created many years ago.
