I used to show my work at a art gallery in Wicker Park in Chicago! It was called Gallery 1633 because of its location at 1633 Damen. There still is this artwalk in that neighborhood called Around the Coyote-during one of those major events-an upscale couple walked by with this cigar chomping ol' hat wearing red checker shirt sporting character -telling this story that is so bizare it has to be true-and I asked this hipster next to me in the gallery if he knew who that was-he didn't- & I told 'em it was Studs
My Dad is a Chicago teamster and once drove a truck in the city-when he used to go to the Billy Goat-he used to see Studs, Royko, and many other newspaper people.
I could keep going but it's best to keep this at this length.
